My granny (my dad's mum) lives in Donegal, Ireland in quite literally the middle of nowhere. The nearest neighbour is half a mile down the road, which to be honest is just far too quiet for a city boy like me. Nevertheless, I try and get over there to visit at least once a year. My dad was looking at flights to Belfast airport so we could head over there at the end of the month.

Ryanair were doing/are doing (not sure if it is still going) a promotion were you can fly there for 1p, so a return ticket is 2p each haha! That was the price of the ticket and taxes, so it really was just the 2p there are back, one problem though, each checked in bag was £20 each. No problem my dad thought, we can just check in the one bag as we were only going for a weekend. So my dad selected that we wanted to do the online check in, making it all a lot simpler when we arrived - that wasn't allowed as we were only checking in the one bag, and airport check-ins with Ryanair are £8 each. So suddenly the amazingly cheap flights are just growing and growing in cost.

I know that Ryanair are inclined to take the piss a little when it comes to prices, but to advertise flights for a penny before adding all these extras isn't really on!
